Casting news regarding 'The Predator has been very quiet lately, although that changed today. Deadline reported back in September that Benicio Del Toro would join the project in a lead role. However, today The Hollywood Reporter announced that Del Toro would be dropping out of the role, with Boyd Holbrook replacing him in the film. The Hollywood reporter had information regarding Del Toro's schedule:
"Casting Del Toro in Predator was a challenge from the beginning. The actor and the studio danced for months around this project, with one obstacle being Del Toro's schedule (among the project that he was supposed to shoot was a sequel to Sicario). The studio even pushed back the start date to February in order to accommodate the actor. Sources say scheduling issues again became a problem when del Toro's other movies rejigged."
No information was given about what role in the film he would be applying for. However, it does appear that the reason the film's production got pushed back to February was because of Del Toro.
Boyd Holbrook has made his mark in major film and Tv projects. His most notable film credit was in "Gone Girl", and he has also starred in the television series "Narcos" and "The Hatfields and McCoys".
Let us know what you think of Fox's replacement for Del Toro! Happy with the casting or not?
